3 Reasons to List With A Tier 1 Broker

3 REASONS TO USE A TIER 1 BROKER

When listing your aircraft, a Tier 1 Broker surpasses the capabilities of Tier 2 and Tier 3 Brokers, getting you more aligned results.

Why Working with a Professional Aircraft Broker Makes All the Difference

Selling an aircraft is not like selling a car. The stakes are higher, the buyer pool is smaller, details matter enormously, and mistakes can cost millions. Yet many owners still approach the process without adequate representation and often pay a significant price for it.

Here is what we talk to clients about and what every aircraft owner should know before going to market without using a broker.

Underrepresentation: Tier 3/Pilot/Service Provider Representation

It's a natural instinct to choose the representation that is right in front of you. You’ve built a great relationship with your Pilot or service provider, and they know your aircraft inside and out; they have relationships in aviation, and it seems like a convenient choice to help facilitate a sale. But convenience and expertise are two very different things.

Pilots and service providers, while fully knowledgeable about the aircraft itself, typically lack the depth of market research and valuation tools required to position the aircraft in relation to the market, not to mention the bias. Without access to comprehensive market data, an aircraft can easily be mispriced: too high, and it lingers; too low, and value is left on the table. The Tier 3: Pilot audience reach is often limited to their personal network, which represents only a fraction of the qualified buyers actively searching the market at any given time, meaning the aircraft can sit on the market much longer than needed in hopes the listing reaches the right person.

We work with many pilots and have even facilitated transactions directly with pilots. Pilots are great at knowing their aircraft they have been flying, knowing the owner and what the needs are, but do not have the same access to markets and market research that helps increase value when selling, or ensuring proper valuation when buying.

The Daisy Chain Effect

Perhaps the most damaging scenario an owner can find themselves in is what the industry quietly refers to as a "daisy chain" a loose network of individuals, each claiming to have exclusive access to a buyer or seller, all looking to clip a commission somewhere along the way.

The result? The aircraft gets shopped around indiscriminately, its price inflates to accommodate the layers of middlemen all seeking compensation, and serious brokers become hesitant to engage not knowing where true representation lies.

Unrepresented aircraft often sit on the market longer, often accumulating what savvy buyers call "market rash," the perception that something must be wrong with it. Ultimately, selling for less than fair market value.

Owners are often left to manage showings and negotiate on their own, while losing control of how their aircraft is represented. Errors, omissions, and misrepresentations become far more likely without a single accountable professional offering clarity, confidence, and transactional control.

An exclusivity agreement with the right broker protects you and your asset, offers the market a clear point of contact and assurances of accuracy of representation.

The over-pricing trap:

It may seem logical to price your aircraft high and leave room to negotiate down. In practice, this strategy often backfires in ways that sellers don’t realize and are difficult to reverse.

Serious buyers and their brokers are sophisticated. They monitor the market closely and know immediately when an aircraft is priced outside of reality. An overpriced listing gets passed over and categorized. Buyers move on, and brokers stop presenting it to their clients altogether. The aircraft is passed along to the exact audience it needs to reach.

The real cost of overpricing becomes days on market turning into weeks, weeks into months and months into ‘market rash’. Each passing month brings depreciation, ongoing operating and storage costs, and the quiet erosion of perceived value. By the time the price is eventually reduced to where it should have started, the aircraft has been on the market long enough to raise questions. Buyers wonder what others found wrong with it. They come in lower, negotiate harder, and demand more concessions because the listing sat too long before being accurately priced.

The cruel irony is that an accurately priced aircraft, brought to market correctly from day one, almost always yields a better net result than one that starts high and chases the market down. Momentum matters. A well-priced aircraft generates early interest, competitive attention, and the kind of urgency that protects your position at the negotiating table.

How the right Broker enhances your sale:

A Tier 1 broker doesn't just list your aircraft; they build a strategy around it.

That means accurate valuation based on current, comprehensive real market research, compelling positioning tailored to the most relevant buyer audience, and a comprehensive go-to-market strategy that highlights the true prestige and value of your aircraft. It means access to industry-leading platforms, established channels, and — most critically — a global network of targeted contacts and qualified, motivated buyers that only our team provides.

Beyond marketing, a professional Tier 1 broker brings skillful negotiating expertise, full transactional support, from contracts to delivery, across global markets, and complete deal management that protects your interests from first contact through closing.

The result is typically a faster sale, a better outcome, and far fewer headaches along the way.

The right broker puts more money in your pocket and protects you asset.
